Here are a few more photos of the beach in Tofino, B.C. Hopefully you aren't tired of them. Smiles. If any of you have photos you would like to share in the Pantry, please send them to me by email (wildwoman2@shaw.ca). We hope you all had a productive week of poetry, and are ready to dip into the Pantry for some good reading.

Did you catch Rosemary's feature last Friday? Rosemary always has an interesting poem and poet for us at the end of the week. This past Friday's was very entertaining. This Monday, we are featuring poems by Audrey Howitt and Annell Livingston, and on Wednesday, Sumana's Midweek Motif prompt will be: Change. An appropriate topic for these political times. Looks like a great week for poetry, my friends.

Link your poem with Mr. Linky, say hi in the comments, and do visit some of your fellow poets in the spirit of reciprocity. We are so happy you are spending your Sunday morning with us.

POETRY PANTRY # 336

Ha, Google informs us that January 15 is National Hat Day.  No kidding! My old wolf-Pup wore his hats with considerable flair. I thought this might bring a smile this morning, as we delve into another well-stocked Pantry.

Do come back tomorrow, as we will be featuring poems by Three Real Toads: Shay, Mama Zen and Hedgewitch. Their poems are not to be missed! On Wednesday, Susan challenges us with the prompt: Unity, at Midweek Motif, something we need now more than ever before, when the news is so full of divisiveness. And Rosemary always has something interesting for us on Fridays. This week is looking good for poetry!

Link your poem below and say hi in the comments. And be sure to visit your fellow poets in the spirit of reciprocity. Enjoy!

POETRY PANTRY # 335

Frank's Island, Chestermans Beach
Tofino, B.C.

South Chestermans

Today in the Pantry, my friends, we are enjoying some photos taken by my daughter, Stephanie Oien, on our recent trip to Tofino, on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. There, Stephanie, her husband, Gord,  their two dogs and I spent a few days in a cabin on the beach. We made some wonderful memories, and enjoyed  spectacular sunrises and sunsets, beautiful enough to restore one's spirits. What a way to begin the new year!

These panoramic shots show the glorious sweep
of Chestermans Beach, our favourite  of the local beaches.
The top shot is a close-up of Frank's Island,
shown from farther away in the second photo.
You will never meet happier dogs than the ones
you find on the beach! It is dog heaven.

As sunset beckons, all along the beach,
people come out of their houses
with their mugs of tea.  Small fires dot the beach,
as all attend the closing
of another glorious day on the West Coast.

From sunrise to sunset, the magic never ends.
We hope you enjoyed this trip to the beach.
Thanks, Stephanie, for allowing me
to share your photos
(and for that special time with you, Gord,
and the puppies.)

Do stop by tomorrow to read a wonderfully positive chat with Wendy Bourke, entitled "Star Dreams and Rainbow Hopes," beginning the new year with hope and some good poetry. On Wednesday, Sumana will challenge us at Midweek Motif with the words "The Door", offering many possibilities for poetic inspiration.  And be sure to stop by Rosemary's The Living Dead on Friday.

Now it is time to dive into the Pantry and see what goodies await us there. Mary is having a little down time, so I am pinch-hitting for her. Thanks for stopping by so faithfully every week. We truly appreciate you!

Leave your link with Mr Linky, my friends, and do visit your fellow poets, in the spirit of reciprocity. Enjoy!

Poetry Pantry # 334

Greetings, Poets! On this first day of a brand new year, we wish you a wonderful year of sharing the joy of poetry. We hope you enjoyed a festive holiday season with your loved ones, and are renewed in body and spirit. It is lovely to be back, and sharpening our quills.

We're looking forward to reading what the Pantry has for us today. And do come back tomorrow for our Life of a Poet series: an interview with Heather Sawaya. We think you will find it very interesting. On Wednesday, Susan has a timely topic for Midweek Motif: Vision, a perfect subject for the beginning of a new year. And Rosemary has an incredible share on Friday for I Wish I'd Written This. I peeked, and it is very special. Don't miss it!

Now, you know what to do. Link your poem, and say hi in the comments. Do make visits to your fellow poets, in the spirit of reciprocity. And, most of all, Enjoy Poetry!

Poetry Pantry #332

source

Good Sunday, friends.   Well, we are moving along in December.   Just a reminder that we will be having Poetry Pantry today, our regular schedule this week, and Poetry Pantry on December 18.  Then we will be taking a two week holiday break and return again on January 1 with our first Poetry Pantry of 2017.

Thanks to all of you who took part in Poetry United this past week. Sherry, I just want to commend you for the wonderful article you wrote and shared last Monday.  I think losing a pet is something that touches the heart and soul of all of us.

Nice to read so many interesting takes on the Susan's Midweek Motif - "aviation."  I think Susan is really great at thinking of unique topics for people to write on!   This next week I hope many will also write on Sumana's Midweek Motif - "music." It definitely is a musical time of year!

Fascinating poem and article Friday by Rosemary.  She featured the poet Paul Celan & his poem : "I Can Still See You."  It is a poem not to miss by a poet you will want to check out.

Return on Monday for Sherry's wonderful chat with Elizabeth Crawford, a regular participant around Poets United.   This chat will be on a very relevant topic for today:  "A Poet's Task in a Post-Truth World."     (I know I, for the most part, really used to steer clear of the political arena in poetry.  But at the moment I often can't help myself.  I will definitely be returning to read Elizabeth's take on the subject.)

With no delay, let's share poetry.  Link your poem below.  Stop in and say hello.  Visit the poems of others who share.  Come back tomorrow as well, as people will be sharing until midday (US Central Time) Sunday!

Greetings, Poets!  Where does the time go?  We are already in December!  Soon we will be facing another new year.  Looking forward to reading some more poetry from you for the rest of 2016!

We had another great week at Poets United, with wonderful features by Sherry, Susan, and Rosemary.  Do check back to see what you missed if you had a busy week.

And this next week will be another  good one.  It will begin with Sherry's feature with Grapeling, a very special poet.  And, if you love dogs, don't miss this!  I just previewed it and was 'blown away.'

Susan's Midweek Motif next week is "Aviation."  Did you know that December 7 is International Aviation Day??  How do you feel about flying nowadays?

With no further delay, let's share poetry.  Link your poem below. Stop in and say hello in the comments.  Visit the poems of others who have shared.

Looking forward to seeing YOU on the poetry trail!
